This sash is hand-made on a loom using wool. This Coventry style sash is a replica of the design the Louis Riel wore circa 1860. Coventry sashes were the most common style from 1850 to early 1900’s.
This sash is of the L'Assomption style sash made in L'Assomption, Quebec whose earliest known origins come from the 18th Century. It is the oldest known sash design.
This sash is made on a loom using polyester. This design appeared around the time of the first Carnaval de Quebec in the late 1950's and has since been adopted by many different festivals and organizations. This sash is approximately 5' long and 3" wide.
